2035 Portugal is a fourth stage in Xeno Fighters R. It is reached by successfully crippling Sphinx in Stage 3-B (1974 Vietnam) or by saving all ATHENA buildings from Jasper Gigas' time bombs in Stage 3-A (1995 Chechnya) as of v0.288.
Backstory[]
Lisbon, Portugal, is the main communications center for ATHENA. BRES detected Lisbon's constant monitoring of the Orion complex in Iceland, sending a massive bomber run to wipe out the Lisbon ATHENA headquarters and put a stop to their surveillance.
Description[]
This high-speed stage takes place over the city of Lisbon, Portugal, at night. Once the Stymphalian Birds are in sight, air raid sirens begin to blare.

- MiG-29 Fulcrums: Massive swarms of these fighters accompany the Stymphalian Birds.
- Miniature Obsidian Perytons: Appear onscreen at high speed, fire fast aimed shots at players, and leave just as quickly.
- Large white bombers (name unknown): Release S and/or B on destruction.
Miniboss[]
Stymphalian Birds: A formation of 16 of these gigantic bomber planes is encountered throughout the stage.
Endboss[]
Obsidian Peryton engages the players after leaving the bomber formation.
Stage branching[]
There is are three objective-based branching condition for this stage:
- If player failed to destroy all of the Stymphalian Birds bombers they will send the to Stage 5-A (2003 Afghanistan).
- If player successfully destroy all 16 Stymphalian Birds they will send to Stage 5-B (1991 Persian Gulf).
- The destruction of the Stymphalian Birds will also release an EX Medal which, if collected, it will leads to Stage EX-2 (Forest of Naju).
